Competence Center Spatial Information Management of the Fraunhofer IGD at the INTERGEO 2011
Thursday, August 25, 2011
The Fraunhofer IGD presents new solutions at the INTERGEO 2011, the worlwide largest event and communication platform in the field of geodesy, spatial information and land management. The fair and the congress take place on September 27-29th in Nürnberg, Germany. With the help of a MultiTouch Table the Fraunhofer IGD scientists introduce among others the CityServer3D. The software administrates and connects 2d and 3D geodata, produces automatically 3D models and allows simulations in the 3D world.
Another research topic in this context, which will be introduced at the INTERGEO is the development of new methods for visualisation and exploration of the underground and the DeepCity technology.
Besides this the Fraunhofer IGD scientists present their Open Source solution for the integration and semantic harmonisation of spatial daata, the HUMBOLDT Alignment Editor (HALE), which helps to implement the INSPIRE directive in practice.

CityServer3D at the Cebit
Monday, February 14, 2011
From March, 01st to 05th, 2011 the Cebit fair will take place in Hannover, Germany. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft will have an own booth where the CityServer3D will also be presented. According to the motto "Urban Living", there will be research and industry projects from the following areas: "public life", "business life" and "private life". The CityServer3D will be presented in the areas of "public life" and "business life" on workstations and on the Multi-Touch Table. Our main topics will be urban planning and [permalink id=204 text="DeepCity3D"].
We'll see you at the booth!
DeepCity3D user workshop
Friday, February 04, 2011
A user requirements workshop for the DeepCity3D project will take place on February, 22nd 2011 at the Fraunhofer IGD in Darmstadt, Germany. The CityServer3D is used in this project to manage 3D city models and to visualize underground structures like gelogy, tunnels, basements, and others. The workshop will be held in German.
The event will be a good opportunity for domain experts to share their experience in the following areas:
Semantic integration of 3D city models and underground structures
Unique visualization techniques to display this data in an integrated way
New ways to navigate through underground in 3D
Support of analyses and simulations
Apart from that, already elaborated design concepts will be presented.
The "DeepCity3D" project aims at providing software tools that use standardized formats (like CityGML, GeoSciML and OGC-conform web services) to integrate and visualize 3D city models and underground data. More information can be found on our [permalink id="204" text="project site"].
